DEEWR Integrating ICT Pedagogy in School Communities Workshops

The Australian National Schools Network is facilitating an exciting national Project in conjunction with Education Queensland International and supported by the AGQTP.

The Project will provide opportunities for teams of teachers, between 2 and 4 from each school, to engage in a supported ICT project focussing on improving ICT pedagogy. The participating teachers can already be proficient users of ICT or teachers who would like to develop their skills further.

Having a huge range of skills in ICT is not a requirement of the project. It's more about enthusing teachers to want to know more about how ICT can be integrated in Maths, History, English and Science.

The project will be conducted in 3 Phases as follows:

Phase 1:

Introduction and building a profile of the learner. Participants will register with EdNA which will be the main platform for communication. Some resources will be available for participants to access prior to Phase 2.

Phase 2:

A one day workshop facilitated by a Project mentor support person. The workshop will focus on using the EdNA site and integrating various communication tools such as wikis, blogs etc. Dates to be advised.

Participants will identify an area of interest on which to work during Phase 3, which will be a personalise action learning project.

Phase 3:

Action Learning Project

Participants will engage in an action learning project based on their area of interest as identified in Phase 2. This may be a learning experience, innovative practice, lesson, activity or unit of work. Participants will produce something based on their project over a one month period, such as a digital story or using a learning object. Contributions can be uploaded to a Blog on the EdNA site. Participants will be supported online by the Project Mentor and state contact.

The start date for Phase 1 is August 10 when the EdNA Group "Australian Digiteachers" created for the project will be live online, clusters will have a staggered starting date, which will be identified shortly.

This is a national project of significance as it is expected to lead to continuing work supported by DEEWR in 2010. Participants include schools in 20 locations nationally, with every state and territory represented including locations such as  Bairnsdale, Warrnambool, Cairns, Townsville, Dubbo, Armidale, Lismore, Newcastle, Darwin, Katherine, Alice Springs. Geraldton, Albany and Bunbury.

The Workshops are free, if you are interested in taking part please contact us.
