Launch of Teaching our Digi Kids
In a launch presentation that encompassed the IBM-sponsored Kidsmart program and the publication by ANSN of Hanan Harrison’s Teaching our Digi Kids book (with IBM support), Miranda Scarff, from Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Affairs, IBM spoke enthusiastically about Hanan’s work and the impact that it is having across Australia. In discussing the book, she focussed particularly on its structure, with each chapter offering:
- topic introduction;
- reflection activities – getting you thinking;
- teacher snapshots – hear from colleagues;
- learning stories – working examples; and
- sample lesson ideas – what you can consider.

The ANSN and IBM as partners have documented and produced 11 snapshotsthat showcase early childhood teachers and their journeys inimplementing technology with a play-based curriculum. These snapshotsare designed to celebrate and share the cumulative learning of teacherswho have explored and developed innovative teaching practices throughtechnology integration, based on their participation in the IBMKidSmart project.

Rockhampton and Townsville KidSmart clusters each presented a day of sharing, to celebrate their digital learning journey as part of their KidSmart project, on 7 and 8 November.

The future is here, and students are developing these important technology skills in their everyday lives.
