John SpieringsThe Australian National Schools Network (ANSN) in conjunction with the University of Western Sydney (UWS) and the New South Wales Department of Education & Training presented a National Forum to discuss producing an ‘Intergenerational Compact for our Young People’.

Successful schools work continually to develop a culture of student, teacher and leadership learning success. Cognitive Coaching is integral to this.

Participation in this intensive workshop will equip you and/or members of your team with a set of strategies, a way of thinking and a way of working that invites self and others to shape and reshape their thinking and problem solving capacities to achieve learning success.

Teachers, school leaders, educational consultants and systems personnel now have the opportunity to participate in a Turnaround Hub – where they will experience a teacher inquiry approach to learning. Working in research projects, they will explore effective ways to address educational disadvantage, based on the groundbreaking work that has been done in the Connecting Lives and Learning project.

The August issue of E-News reported the launch of the Connecting Lives and Learning (CLL) website, aimed at schools and systems that are seeking ways to address educational disadvantage. The CLL project developed a `turnaround pedagogy’ that works in challenging school contexts. It has now developed into the Turnaround project, with a research-based Hub and a program of workshops.

Participants of the recent Learning to Coach, Coaching to Learn workshopsseries were introduced to the skills and knowledge from the Cognitive Coaching program.

Starting in September, ANSN and Hawker Brownlow Education will present a three-day Curriculum Design Research Circle, in Melbourne. It will take place on 1 and 2 September and 10 November, led by Gavin Grift, National Co-ordinator of the ANSN Curriculum Design Hub, and Director of the Association of Innovation in Education.
